EIT Manufacturing
EIT Manufacturing (EITM) is part of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) and is a European associations of leading Universities, industries and research centers linked to the manufacturing sector, with the aim of boosting the European manufacturing to become globally competitive and sustainable for the society. Bringing together manufacturing actors across Europe, EITM integrates education and innovation for an entrepreneurial and sustainable Europe. The EITM educational programmes are designed and developed according to a strong quality framework, the EIT Label, to provide students with the right set of skills and capabilities to become the new innovators, entrepreneurs and game changers of the manufacturing sector. The students at the end of their studies (Master and Doctoral full time programmes) grant the EIT label certificate in addition to the traditional degree.
EITM programmes are inclusive, being international by default, support and encourage women in Manufacturing and promote RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) students participation.
The EITM academia includes a Master School, which offers Master of Science full time programmes, and a Doctoral School, which provides full time Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) programmes combined with Industrial Doctorate studies. Short programmes, such as summer and winter schools, are also available inside the two main full time options.
EIT Manufacturing (EITM) Master School offers a unique and excellent high education programme, with international and inclusion mindset, to graduate the next generation of Manufacturing Innovators and Entrepreneurs.
The EITM Master School programmes are delivered by universities with the collaboration of industries, research centres and the EITM ecosystem. The programmes merge manufacturing technical and technological aspects with innovation and entrepreneurship teaching, in the context of the global societal challenges, such as circular economy, industrial innovation, sustainability, and so on. The EIT Manufacturing Master School adopts a practical learning by doing approach, through activities at Teaching and Learning Factories, through internships, projects and thesis at industrial premises, and through Innovation and entrepreneurship focused Summer Schools, in order the students to put immediately in practice the new knowledge, gathered in the class, in a real work and research context. The international studies at two different universities and the interaction with the EIT Manufacturing community complement and complete the educational offer.
All the EITM Master School programmes are double degrees and allow the students to develop:
- Capability to implement engineering expertise and advanced technologies to create new or improved methods, techniques, products and services in the manufacturing field, in line with the customer target sector and the global societal challenges.
- Transversal skills and capabilities, such as constructive communication, leadership, complex problem setting, problem solving and decision making, to collaborate in international and diverse contexts, to manage projects and teams, to find new solutions and innovate the manufacturing offer.
- Business understanding and entrepreneurship to boost their future careers and to create innovative start-ups.
The EITM Master School programmes are:
• People and Robots for Sustainable Work
• Additive Manufacture for Full Flexibility
• Zero-Defect Manufacture for a Circular Economy
• Platforms for digitalized value networks
At the end of their studies the students receive two degrees directly by the universities and the EIT label certificate from EIT Manufacturing, as an international recognition of their high quality education curriculum.
The EITM Master School programmes have a tuition fee of 8.000€ EU/EFTA – 15.000 NOT EU/EFTA students. Fee waivers, scholarships and mobility grants are available for specific selected students.
The EIT Manufacturing (EITM) Doctoral School offers mobility, mentorship, networking, innovation & entrepreneurship, and business modules to PhD students. Graduated EITM PhDs will be prepared to generate start-ups or to be leaders of innovation within manufacturing companies and ecosystem, contributing to European competitiveness and environmental sustainability.
Being immersed in the close-knit EITM community of leading researchers, industrials, and entrepreneurs, who are accustomed to producing high-impact science and practical innovations, PhD students have the possibility and the appropriate conditions to build a strong CV and a work ethic, which delivers results.
The value to students includes several dimensions: exposure to academia, exposure to the industry, mobility, Innovation and Entrepreneurship education, linked with research in manufacturing and societal challenge contextualization.
The EIT Manufacturing (EITM) Doctoral School programme offers Industrial Doctorate positions in the field of manufacturing at its partner universities and a wide range of I&E activities, such as summer and winter schools, seminars, hackathons and other innovative pedagogical approaches. Company visits and professional networking opportunities are also included into the EITM Doctoral School portfolio. International academic and industrial exchanges and a final industrial based thesis complete the programme.
The students can personalized the study plan choosing among the annual offering of the EITM Doctoral School. At the end of the EITM Doctoral School programmes, the PhD students receive the EIT label certificate, as the international recognition of their high education quality achievement.
